Heinsberg/Erkelenz - A 79-year-old woman from Erkelenz advertised for domestic help. A woman came forward who cleaned the apartment in Brückstraße on September 8 (Sunday) and September 10 (Tuesday) between 9.45 am and 1 pm in the presence of the owner. On September 11 (Wednesday), the senior citizen discovered that money had been stolen from her wallet. An envelope containing a low five-figure sum of money and jewelry was also stolen from a safe. The woman did not turn up for the subsequent appointment.
The woman was slim, had dark, shoulder-length hair, was around 165 to 170 centimetres tall and appeared to be from Eastern Europe. She called herself "Patricia".
A similar incident took place in Heinsberg. A couple placed an advertisement in a daily newspaper looking for a cleaner. A Patricia came forward, who appeared at the address on Engelsberg Street on September 6 (Friday) and cleaned the house while the owner was in the garden. On 14 September (Saturday), the Heinsberg resident discovered that various items of jewelry and a four-digit sum of money had been stolen.
The suspects described the woman as being around 22 to 27 years old, around 170 centimetres tall, with black hair that she wore tied in a plait, tanned skin and a southern appearance. She was wearing a light blue T-shirt, black leggings and blue cleaning gloves at the time of the crime.
